Wildcats Advance to 2nd Round

Piedmont Varsity Wildcats jumped out to an early lead over Santa Fe South Saints Varsity and took home a 12-1 victory on Thursday.  Piedmont Varsity Wildcats scored on a single by Gabe Clyden, a single by Trey Migl, and a triple by Noah Smith in the first inning.

Piedmont Varsity Wildcats secured the victory thanks to seven runs in the first inning.  The big inning was thanks to singles by Clyden and Migl and a triple by Smith.

Ethan Nawaz led the Piedmont Varsity Wildcats to victory on the pitcher’s mound. The pitcher went five innings, allowing one run on five hits and striking out six.

Ivan Rodriguez took the loss for Santa Fe South Saints Varsity. The righty lasted two and two-thirds innings, allowing ten hits and ten runs while striking out three.

Piedmont Varsity Wildcats collected 11 hits.  Cole Riggs, Weston Thomas, Clyden, and Migl each managed multiple hits for Piedmont Varsity Wildcats.  Thomas and Riggs each collected three hits to lead Piedmont Varsity Wildcats.  Piedmont Varsity Wildcats stole six bases during the game as two players stole more than one. Riggs led the way with three.

Santa Fe South Saints Varsity tallied five hits.  Luis Orquiz and Ever Herrera each racked up multiple hits for Santa Fe South Saints Varsity.
