Salina Jumps Out Early and Secures the Win

Piedmont Varsity Wildcats watched the game slip away early and couldn’t recover in a 10-3 loss to Salina Wildcats Varsity on Friday.  Salina Wildcats Varsity scored on a single by T Bailey in the first inning, a single by E Swarsr in the first inning, a single by M Williams in the second inning, and a single by C Johnson in the second inning.

The Piedmont Varsity Wildcats struggled to put runs on the board and had a tough time defensively containing Salina Wildcats Varsity, giving up ten runs.

In the first inning, Salina Wildcats Varsity got their offense started.  Bailey singled on a 2-1 count, scoring one run.

Salina Wildcats Varsity scored three runs in the sixth inning.  P Burns, Johnson, and Bailey all moved runners across the plate with RBIs in the inning.

E Gardner was on the pitcher’s mound for Salina Wildcats Varsity. The bulldog went three innings, allowing two runs on one hit and striking out one.

Noah Smith was on the mound for Piedmont Varsity Wildcats. The pitcher surrendered five runs on eight hits over five innings, striking out two.  Luke Hill threw two innings in relief.

Nicholas Elmhorst, Jackson Harriger, and Cole Girard each collected one hit to lead Piedmont Varsity Wildcats.

Salina Wildcats Varsity tallied 12 hits in the game.  M Alberty, Johnson, G Willis, and Swarsr each racked up multiple hits for Salina Wildcats Varsity.  Alberty led Salina Wildcats Varsity with three hits in three at-bats.
