Too Little Too Late for the Cats

Piedmont Varsity Wildcats fell behind early and couldn’t come back in a 9-5 loss to Carl Albert on Monday.  Carl Albert scored on a single by Brodie Hinson, a groundout by Noah Evans, an error, and a wild pitch during D Murphy’s at bat in the first inning.

Carl Albert got things moving in the first inning, when Hinson singled on a 2-2 count, scoring one run.

Piedmont Varsity Wildcats notched five runs in the sixth inning.  Piedmont Varsity Wildcats put the pressure on, lead by a single by Nicholas Elmhorst, a home run by Weston Thomas, and a double by Logan Hill.

Carl Albert scored four runs in the fourth inning.  Carl Albert batters contributing to the big inning included Chase Lashley, Tanner Norman, and Hutch Russell, all knocking in runs in the inning.

Kash Ferris led things off on the mound for Carl Albert. The fireballer lasted six innings, allowing four hits and five runs while striking out 13 and walking one.

Jakeb Koop was on the hill for Piedmont Varsity Wildcats. Koop went three and two-thirds innings, allowing eight runs on seven hits and striking out five.  Noah Smith threw two and a third innings out of the bullpen.

Piedmont Varsity Wildcats hit one home run on the day. Thomas had a dinger in the sixth inning.

Thomas, Elmhorst, Hill, and Smith each managed one hit to lead Piedmont Varsity Wildcats.

Carl Albert racked up nine hits in the game.  Hinson, Russell, and Samuel Gonzalez all collected multiple hits for Carl Albert.
