Cat’s Bats Were on Fire

Piedmont Varsity Wildcats defeated Del City Eagles Varsity 17-0 on Tuesday as two pitchers combined to throw a shutout. Cole Girard struck out Blake Barker to finish off the game.

Weston Thomas led Piedmont Varsity Wildcats to victory by driving in four runs.  Thomas went 3-for-3 at the plate.  Thomas drove in runs on a triple in the first and a home run in the third.

Piedmont Varsity Wildcats got things started in the first inning.  Thomas tripled on a 0-2 count, scoring two runs.

Piedmont Varsity Wildcats tallied eight runs in the second inning.  The offensive onslaught by Piedmont Varsity Wildcats was led by Nicholas Elmhorst, Luke Hill, Girard, Dalton Hampton, and Jackson Harriger, who each had RBIs in the inning.

One bright spot for Del City Eagles Varsity was a single by Braylon Lassiter in the third inning.

Jackson Califano led things off on the pitcher’s mound for Piedmont Varsity Wildcats. The southpaw allowed one hit and zero runs over four innings, striking out nine.

Barker started the game for Del City Eagles Varsity. The righty went four innings, allowing 17 runs on 16 hits and striking out five.

Piedmont Varsity Wildcats hit one home run on the day. Thomas had a homer in the third inning.

Piedmont Varsity Wildcats collected 16 hits.  Thomas, Hampton, Girard, Hill, and Harriger each racked up multiple hits for Piedmont Varsity Wildcats.  Thomas led Piedmont Varsity Wildcats with three hits in three at bats.  Piedmont Varsity Wildcats was sure-handed and didn’t commit a single error. Harriger made the most plays with  12.

Lassiter went 1-for-2 at the plate to lead Del City Eagles Varsity in hits.
