Cats Shutout Irish for the Sweep

Piedmont Varsity Wildcats defeated Bishop McGuinness Varsity Irish 6-0 on Tuesday as two pitchers combined to throw a shutout. Noah Aller induced a double-play from Keller Anderson to finish off the game.

Piedmont Varsity Wildcats scored three runs in the seventh inning.  The offensive onslaught came from doubles by Nicholas Elmhorst and Weston Thomas and a triple by Luke Hill.

A single by Brett Jacobs in the first inning was positive for Bishop McGuinness Varsity Irish.

Jackson Califano led things off on the pitcher’s mound for Piedmont Varsity Wildcats. The lefty allowed four hits and zero runs over five and third innings, striking out seven.

Jacobs started the game for Bishop McGuinness Varsity Irish. The bulldog allowed eight hits and six runs over seven innings, striking out five and walking zero.

Piedmont Varsity Wildcats saw the ball well today, racking up eight hits in the game.  Noah Smith and Thomas all collected multiple hits for Piedmont Varsity Wildcats.  Thomas and Smith each managed two hits to lead Piedmont Varsity Wildcats.

Jacobs went 2-for-3 at the plate to lead Bishop McGuinness Varsity Irish in hits.
