Piedmont Wins Game 1 of the 5A Clash

Both teams were strong on the pitcher’s mound Thursday, but Piedmont Varsity Wildcats defeated MacArthur Varsity Highlanders 3-1. Piedmont Varsity Wildcats pitchers allowed just five hits to MacArthur Varsity Highlanders.

Piedmont Varsity Wildcats fired up the offense in the first inning when Karsen Christian’s wild pitch allowed one run to score for Piedmont Varsity Wildcats.

Noah Smith led things off on the mound for Piedmont Varsity Wildcats. Smith lasted five innings, allowing four hits and one run while striking out seven.

Christian started the game for MacArthur Varsity Highlanders. The righthander lasted five innings, allowing five hits and three runs while striking out nine and walking one.  Kage Zeller threw two innings in relief.

Cole Girard went 2-for-2 at the plate to lead Piedmont Varsity Wildcats in hits.
