Wildcats Advance to Regional Championship

Round 1: Santa Fe South vs Piedmont

Piedmont Varsity Wildcats earned the victory despite allowing Santa Fe South Saints Varsity to score six runs in the third inning.  Joaquin Villa, Javier Duran,  Juan Dominguez, Josue Rivera, and Isaac Olivas each had RBIs in the frame.

Piedmont Varsity Wildcats got things started in the first inning.  Hampton’s sac fly scored one run for Piedmont Varsity Wildcats.

Piedmont Varsity Wildcats took the lead for good with three runs in the fourth inning.  In the fourth Noah Aller singled on a 3-2 count, scoring one run and Steve Morales induced Noah Smith to hit into a fielder’s choice, but one run scored.

Piedmont Varsity Wildcats notched six runs in the fifth inning.  Piedmont Varsity Wildcats’ big inning was driven by walks by Jackson Harriger and Smith, singles by Logan Hill and Jakeb Koop, and a sac fly by Nicholas Elmhorst.

Cole Pruitt got the start for Piedmont Varsity Wildcats. The righthander went two innings, allowing four runs on one hit and striking out one. Noah Aller came out of the bull pen in relief for three and a third inning, allowing no runs, one hit, and striking out five.

Dominguez started the game for Santa Fe South Saints Varsity. The lefty surrendered six runs on three hits over two innings, striking out one.  Duran, Villa, Morales, and Olivas each entered the game as relief, throwing one and one-third innings, one inning, two-thirds of an inning, and one-third of an inning respectively.

Rhyder Drechsler led Piedmont Varsity Wildcats with two hits in three at bats.  Drechsler led Piedmont Varsity Wildcats with four stolen bases, as they ran wild on the base paths with 16 stolen bases.

Round 2: Piedmont vs Lawton MacArthur

Piedmont Varsity Wildcats had all cylinders firing on offense on Friday, winning big over MacArthur Varsity Highlanders 9-3

Piedmont Varsity Wildcats got things moving in the first inning.  Noah Smith drew a walk, scoring one run.

Piedmont Varsity Wildcats notched four runs in the fourth inning.  Weston Thomas, Smith, and Logan Hill each had RBIs in the big inning.

Jakeb Koop toed the rubber for Piedmont Varsity Wildcats. The pitcher allowed seven hits and three runs over five innings, striking out eight.

Stephen Brown was on the mound for MacArthur Varsity Highlanders. The righthander allowed five hits and seven runs over five innings, striking out six.  Kage Zeller and Boux DeLong entered the game as relief, throwing one inning and one inning respectively.

Reid Smith went 2-for-4 at the plate to lead Piedmont Varsity Wildcats in hits.  Piedmont Varsity Wildcats didn’t commit a single error in the field. Jackson Harriger had the most chances in the field with 14.
